A new day, a new beginning. Each day brings hope that there is a possibility that things will get better for all of us. Today's topic on my blog is road conditions. I am not speaking of weather conditions; rather of the conditions that our city streets are in or at least I imagine everyone’s streets are in (assuming your city is anything like the one that I live in). To be clearer, as there are many things about city streets that can be complained about, is the placement of signs.
Not sure why it occurs, but in my city (and maybe your city is the same) it seems that virtually all the street signs are to far back. This resulting in the driver sneaking forward into traffic to see, and when it is not the signs (I mean stop signs) that are to far back then it is fence, hedge, or some other object (such as a parked car) that is blocking the view of traffic.
It seems to me that it should not be too difficult for cities to place signs in places that the traffic can be seen. That it should not be to difficult for homeowners not to build fences that block the view of traffic or to trim their hedges, and for drivers not to park their cars where other drivers cannot see on the traffic. That cities may want to spend some of their money on enforcing the by-laws they already have in place in these matters.
Stop, let take everything into perceptive. The world may be annoying but it not as 'mean' as we think. Yes, there are times like school shootings, but we need to keep in perceptive that these are not always present. We need to resist the urge to have them hang over us. After all, it is much, much more likely that we will face a badly paced sign, fence, or an unkempt hedge than an armed gunman. The real reason for me writing this blog is to make this point (sorry for the deception), plus misplaced signs and objects really, really, really annoy me (especially unkempt hedges). Are your city roads the same as mine?
