Evolution for Us

I was sitting outside on my deck tonight when I looked over and saw my cat; it dawned on me that if something occurred and we humans for some reason had to abandon are domestic animals (i.e., pets) for some reason, our pets would revolve. They would become physically whatever is needed to survive or crease to exist if they could not. These pets would become faster enabling them to catch the food they need to survive and then those that where best suited would reproduce: eventually as their environment change they would change as well to met its demands. What about us humans?

If something occurred what would happen? I mean how would we change? I could see if the earth became drastically -colder or -warmer that are bodies might adapt themselves. We could grow more hair or sweat more, etc. I do not believe that evolutionary change would occur intellectually (at least in the potential of intellectual grow); assuming if what we want left is to be still able to be called humans: I mean despite our changes once we have entered our current phrase of evolutionary development are intellectual potential has not changed while we certainly have grown into our potential and hopefully are not at its end. How then would we revolve? I think the answer to our survival lies with our technology. With technology we can either destroy ourselves or continue to exist. We either can create, prevent, or cure harsh environments for our survival. With our technology we can continue to grow into our intellectual potential. How then will we revolve?

I do not know. However, while technology will continue to be our creation and companion into our evolution it will not be its cause; if anything it will be our successful or hazardous use of technology that will spur on our evolution. On the other hand we, if something does occur, may use technology (even if technology was used to cause an event) to prevent evolutionary change in the name of our survival. If this is correct then evolutionary change for us will occur intellectually: at what point, if one occurs, will it be safe to say that we have entered a new phrase of evolutionary development?
