Employee-Employer Relations

Schedule your employees to work on a regular basis: same days and times each week. This will allow your employees to allot time to their shift for your place of employment if your employees have multiple jobs as well as when they are job searching to inform potential new employers of their availability. Failing to this may result in putting your employee in the position of deciding whether or not they should quite your place of employment to work elsewhere to be available for other employers: i.e., it gives both your employee and their new employer to work around the shifts you are offering your employee. As we all know trying to manage two or more working schedules, which are often published at conflicting times, is a difficult task, and may also result in putting an employee in the position of deciding between two places of employment.

If an employee complains about not being paid enough it could be that they are actually trying to tell you they do not feel appreciated enough (assuming we are talking about a full-time employee). Try to determine if appreciation is the case or is their gross income is not enough. If it is actually their income and you cannot increase their wages then suggest to them that you may be able to put them on a fix working schedule so they would know what days and times they are off so they can seek additional employment elsewhere. Failing to do this may result in your employee deciding they must work else where due to better wage or hours offerings.
